Ranked: Most Popular Student Clubs in UTM

Clubs give you a chance to become a part of something greater than just yourself during your study in UTM.

Searching for a suitable club can prove a tedious task. I have ranked as many active clubs out there based on surveys from our social media pages and cross checked it with data on UTM’s official website.

In this list the 3 main factors that are used to determine the ranking are:

Social Influence, Diversity and Membership Exclusiveness

Here is a list of the students favorite:


Founded in 2002 by rock star lecturer Dr. Yeong and his colleagues Prof Sham and PM Dr Ridzuan , this esteemed robotics club is the oldest on the list and not to mention #1!

Robocon has a notorious reputation for being the toughest club in UTM because of its extreme workaholic nature. Members usually work in the lab almost everyday in the wee hours of night, some even sleeping over at the lab!

For just over a decade they have been winning national level championships and is undoubtedly the pride of UTM.

AIESEC is one of those clubs where people either like it or don’t, no middle ground. It’s a super fun club nonetheless!

Since 2015 this club has dedicated itself to help develop leadership by having students volunteer abroad. They hold a lot of social activities and even a conference throughout the year that involves EPs (Exchange Participants)

3) ACES Toastmasters

Definitely one of the most diverse and only Public Speaking clubs on the list. ACES is known for it’s electrifying energy and snappy meals during weekly meetings. You can attend meetings as a guest for free every week and be captivated by men and woman that try to conquer the stage.

TEDxUTM is a passionate community that will host a series of talks that strive to bring people from every discipline and culture to share their ideas.

The club recruits members (organizers) annually to work towards one event, TEDxUTM.

5. Mandarin Club

A club where students can join as either a teacher or learner to enhance their Chinese language. It is different from the normal classes as your teachers here are students as well. It is fun and competitive as you try to level up after each course.

6= Flying Dance Studio

Been around since 2012 this dance club has gained recognition in it’s phenomenal performances at events.

7. UTM Jazari Innovation Club

Founded in 2015, Jazari is a robotics club driven with innovation and of course competitions. I even heard they got Sumo Bots (Just a crazy fan of it!).

It is undoubtedly dark horse in the making.

8. Institute of Engineers, Malaysia (UTM Student Section)

Between hosting talks between professionals from the industry and giving away free tickets to Singapore, IEM-UTM Student Section is a society that provides a platform for students to enhance their skills, exchange information & ideas related to engineering.

9. Debate Club

What’s the point of a student life with no arguments?… Don’t answer that.

A small club in UTM that doesn’t boast influence like the other clubs on the list but sure as hell aren’t any less accomplished. Run by a group of passionate students from multiple faculties, so no slacking off tolerated! Jk!

10. Bursa Young Investors Club

Established in March 2016, Bursa Young Investors Club is an initiative by Bursa Malaysia in collaboration with youth network Financial Youth Intelligence establish a platform for students to increase their investment awareness and knowledge in UTM.

So basically you are educated on financial literacy by professionals from the investment industry

12. 24 Festive Drums

Members learn a form of art in the beating of drums to produce a rhythmic sensation. Their performance at events is electrifying so a lot of hard work was put into training.

12. Wushu Club

Martial arts embodies a thousand years of wisdom of Chinese cultureπŸ’ͺ🏻 and the Wushu Club brings together all college students who are interested in martial arts. Learn from each other and grow up on this platform
